AMANI WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT & SUPPORT ORGANISATION (AWESO)
Amani Women’s Empowerment & Support Organisation (AWESO) is a specialist organisation dedicated to supporting Black, Asian and other minoritised women experiencing, or at risk of, domestic abuse. We exist to ensure that women facing some of the greatest barriers to safety and support are empowered to rebuild their lives with dignity, confidence and hope.
Through compassionate support, advocacy, education and partnership working, we raise awareness of domestic abuse, encourage early intervention and work alongside communities to strengthen responses to abuse.
Many Black, Asian and other minoritised women face additional barriers when seeking help. Fear, isolation, immigration insecurity, cultural expectations, language barriers, financial dependence, stigma and uncertainty about where to turn can all make it harder to reach safety and access support. We recognise that every woman’s journey is unique. Our culturally sensitive approach, delivered within trauma-informed and psychologically informed environments, ensures that support is tailored to each woman’s individual circumstances, strengths and needs.

We provide safe, welcoming and non-judgemental spaces where women can reclaim their voice, restore their safety, freedom and wellbeing, and begin rebuilding their lives.
Through specialist support, advocacy, emotional support, education and community outreach, we help women access the information, services and opportunities they need to make informed choices for themselves and their families. We work alongside women to restore self-worth, rebuild confidence and create pathways towards safer, healthier and more independent lives.
Beyond our specialist services, we create opportunities for women to connect, learn and thrive. Through initiatives such as Amani Conversations and our flagship annual empowerment event, Woman Arise, we encourage meaningful conversations, reduce isolation and strengthen communities. By bringing women together, we foster connection, belonging and hope, while increasing awareness that support is available and that no woman has to face abuse alone.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide holistic, tailored support that empowers and uplifts Black, Asian and other minoritised women through advocacy, culturally sensitive practice and psychologically informed environments. We are committed to helping women overcome the impact of domestic abuse, restore their confidence and wellbeing, and move forward with dignity, independence and hope.
Our Vision
Our vision is clear: we are unwavering in our commitment to empowering Black, Asian and other minoritised women experiencing, or at risk of, domestic abuse. By providing compassionate support, raising awareness, strengthening partnerships and breaking down barriers to safety and support, we strive to create communities where women can heal, experience freedom and restoration, and realise their full potential.
